Frequently Asked Questions

Your questions are important to us, and Dr. Angier believes that the more you know, the more confident you can feel. After all, knowledge is power. These common questions and answers will help you understand our practice and policies.

What is a periodontist, and why would I need to see one?

The word "periodontal" means "around the tooth." A periodontist is a dental specialist who focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of issues related to gums, tooth roots, and jawbone. Because of advanced study and training, a periodontist has special knowledge about the health and care of these structures. Periodontists can also place dental implants, the most natural replacement option for missing teeth.

Do I have to be sedated for periodontal procedures?

If surgery is necessary, the best treatment options for a successful procedure will be determined based on your unique situation. Dr. Angier will discuss your options and her recommendations. In most cases, we have found that a relaxed patient, under mild sedation, allows for the most precise treatment.
